lograr que todas las personas en Guatemala sin importar su sexo, edad, condici\u00f3n socio econ\u00f3mica e identidad cultural, puedan gozar del derecho humano al agua limpia y a un saneamiento seguro y eficiente, tal y como muchos de nosotros y nuestras familias lo disfrutamos.\u00a0 Esta inspiraci\u00f3n nos ha llevado a tomar acci\u00f3n y participar en un trabajo que solamente de forma colectiva puede tener los alcances que se necesitan.\u00a0 Para trabajar en ello debemos entender el problema y sus dimensiones.<\/p><p>Todos los guatemaltecos sin excepci\u00f3n tienen derecho a la vida, al desarrollo pleno de sus facultades, la salud, la educaci\u00f3n y a un ambiente sano. El agua potable y el saneamiento eficiente y sostenible constituyen un derecho humano esencial (DHAS) para el disfrute de una vida digna y de un bienestar pleno, de toda la poblaci\u00f3n. El cumplimiento de este derecho debe ser uno de los fines del Estado y de la Sociedad en su conjunto.<\/p><p>En el caso particular de Guatemala, el cumplimiento de este derecho est\u00e1 lejos de ser una realidad. De acuerdo con el CENSO 2018, cuatro millones de personas no ten\u00edan acceso al agua potable y siete millones sin acceso a saneamiento mejorado. El Banco Mundial, seg\u00fan una investigaci\u00f3n realizada indica que para \u201cresponder a los desaf\u00edos que se proponen en los ODS6 el sector necesita m\u00e1s y mejores inversiones en APS, en alrededor de $528 millones anualmente.<\/p><p>Esta realidad que presenta Guatemala, respecto a la disponibilidad de agua para consumo humano, en cantidad adecuada, calidad continuidad y costo asequible; as\u00ed como a los servicios e instalaciones de saneamiento mejorados, tiene un efecto directo e impacto en los casos recurrentes de las infecciones gastrointestinales, de las v\u00edas respiratorias, desnutrici\u00f3n, deserci\u00f3n escolar, afecta la salud especialmente de la ni\u00f1ez y de la madre.<\/p><p>El v\u00ednculo entre la calidad de los servicios de Agua, Saneamiento e Higiene ASH es muy fuerte como se\u00f1ala la Cruzada Nacional por la Nutrici\u00f3n: \u201cLa l\u00ednea de acci\u00f3n de agua segura, saneamiento e higiene se incluye en la misma, debido a la relaci\u00f3n directa entre la deficiencia de estos servicios, las enfermedades diarreicas y la malnutrici\u00f3n; su mejoramiento, as\u00ed como las pr\u00e1cticas higi\u00e9nicas, conseguir\u00e1n, por tanto, no s\u00f3lo cumplir con el Derecho Humano al Agua y al Saneamiento, si no tambi\u00e9n contribuir con la reducci\u00f3n de los problemas de malnutrici\u00f3n en el pa\u00eds.\u201d (Cruzada Nacional por la Nutrici\u00f3n 2020)<\/p><p>Los esfuerzos que a la fecha se realizan, pareciera que no han identificado con propiedad la magnitud del problema y, por lo tanto, no se asigna un valor estrat\u00e9gico al agua potable y el saneamiento, desde una visi\u00f3n social, econ\u00f3mica y ambiental.
